Castle Museum York

This museum, set in the heart of the city next to the iconic Clifford’s Tower,  is famous for its collections of costumes, textiles, military and social history. You can step back in time and wander through the Victorian streets, visit the prison cell of notorious highwayman Dick Turpin and see what life was like on the front line in the  World War One.

Tip – You don’t need to book an entrance ticket but you may have to queue. You can book your tickets on-line and save queuing – the tickets are £3.00 cheaper than paying at the door.

One of our favorite activities is to explore the preserved shops and workshops in the reconstructed streets.
