About The Old Post Office

Situated in the beautiful village of Rosedale Abbey, The Old Post Office is a comfortable holiday cottage, capable of sleeping up to nine people across five bedrooms and has been greeting guests for self catering family holidays in the North York Moors National Park for many years. The property has been beautifully converted throughout with fantastic attention to detail and a wonderful ambiance.

The property is located within a short drive of many beautiful villages, small market towns and the spectacular coastline of North Yorkshire. With an enviable network of public footpaths, the stunning countryside is a walkers paradise, whilst the historic market towns offer excellent restaurants, independent shops, quaint tea rooms and regular market days. Visit the abbeys at Rievaulx and Byland and take a trip on the North York Moors Steam Railway at nearby Pickering. The Old Post Office is a fabulous Yorkshire country cottage for a memorable holiday at any time of the year.

 

 

Living Area

With a tasteful Post Office theme running throughout, there is a bright and cheerful lounge area, with an electric wood burner-effect stove set in a feature stone fireplace.

The lounge offers three sofas set around the fireplace with a large flat screen TV for everyone to enjoy and room to stretch out and relax. A DVD player is available for those who want to enjoy a film from the large selection on offer. Together with a good selection of family games and books the Old Post Office is the ideal place for quality family time.

For those wishing to take in a newspaper or enjoy a good book, there is further seating with a coffee table away from the TV.

Kitchen & Dining

The spacious and well equipped kitchen makes The Old Post Office perfect for self catering holidays in Rosedale Abbey, North Yorkshire. Contemporary colours and a modern, well designed layout with a spacious floor area gives guests plenty of room.

The kitchen is equipped with large electric range cooker, microwave, kettle and coffee maker. A tall fridge freezer offers generous storage, while a dish washer and washing machine complete the kitchen fittings.

A breakfast bar sits at waist height with adjustable bar stools, perfect for that first brew of the morning.

The dining area seats nine people and is perfect for Sunday lunches or evening meals together, overhead lighting with adjustable intensity allows you to set the mood as required.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms

With sleeping accommodation for nine across two levels, The Old Post Office offers versatile accommodation for large groups and family holidays.

First Floor
The master bedroom features a king sized bed, wardrobe and chest of drawers, en-suite with shower, wash hand basin, toilet and heated towel rail.

The second double bedroom, with a Velux window giving views across the moorland, features a double bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and en-suite including shower, wash hand basin, and toilet.

This floor also has a single bedroom and a twin bedroom. Both have a wardrobe, chest of drawers and are close to the family bathroom.

The family bathroom consists of a traditional bath, electric shower over the bath, wash hand basin, large heated towel rail and toilet.

Second Floor
For the adventurous ones, on the top level of The Old Post Office, this room features two single beds, wardrobe and chest of drawers. Two Velux windows, with views towards Chimney Bank and the moorland, give this bedroom a light and airy feel. Bathroom access is one floor down.

Outside

Outside the cottage, there is access down a private path to a sunny patio area, perfect for morning coffee, evening glass of wine or family picnic.

Local pubs and shops are just a short stroll away. The well stocked village shop and tearoom is situated literally metres from the front door. A second tearoom and food shop is just across the village green. Our village pub is a couple of hundred metres away and well worth a visit.

With an enviable network of public footpaths, the stunning countryside is a walkers paradise. The cottage has a good collection of walking books, maps and details of numerous local attractions.

Good to know...

There is no mobile phone signal in Rosedale. However, we offer a permanent landline telephone and free WiFi Broadband giving internet access throughout The Old Post Office. Those with smart phones can continue to be connected with the outside world via the WiFi router.

Also note that - like many Yorkshire Holiday Cottages and due to the period nature of the building - The Old Post Office is not suitable for people with significantly reduced mobility.
