Runswick Bay

Runswick Bay has a long sandy beach that stretches from the lower village for about a mile to the cliffs at Kettleness in the south.

The lower village has a small car park that is reached by a very steep road from the top village. There is a seasonal cafe/shop in the lower village as well as the listed former lifeboat station.

“Here’s something to watch out for in the car park –  there’s no phone signal in the lower village so “pay by card” doesn’t work nor does the “pay by phone” – you need coins. There is a polite notice from the nearby shop saying that they cannot supply coins for the meter.  We’ve been caught out by this on a couple of occasions”
