Christmas Events For All The Family 2023

18th September 2023

Why not book a short break at The Old Post Office and make special family memories?

Here are just a few of the Christamas events planned for our part of North Yorkshire.

York Christmas Market

There’s something for everyone in York this Christmas. From family friendly activities and Santa Sightings to luxury Christmas dinners and traditional services. Be part of the merriment at one of the city’s pantomimes across December and January!

This year, the hugely popular York Christmas Market will return to York. The charming alpine chalets will once again line the streets from 16 November to 22 December, with local businesses selling everything from handmade gifts to delicious treats.

Malton Christmas Food Market

The monthly Malton food market has become a bit of a mecca for foodies and showcases the best of Yorkshire’s artisan local produce. The Christmas event includes all the usual food producers along with a range of Christmas gifts as well.

Over 100 stalls are expected at this year’s Christmas market along with tasty street food to devour, live music including a choir setting the Christmassy atmosphere and entertainment including Victorian-themed fairground for kids to enjoy! It takes place in and around the Milton Rooms in the town’s central Market Place.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway – Santa Special

Last year this event was made even more special as it snowed!

The NYMR is all hands on deck to host another period of festive fun as Santa and his team of elves will be returning for magical journeys aboard the famous Santa Express with the special services running the weekends of 25, 26 November and 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 & 24 December.

Families can climb on board and make some enchanting memories on this ultimate festive day out from either Pickering or Grosmont Station, and enjoy an enchanting Christmas experience to see Mr Claus and his jolly helpers pass through the heritage carriages. Visitors can also expect to meet the legendary man himself, with a special gift for all the children onboard – providing they’ve managed to stay on the nice list this year. Santa’s Helpers will also be on the hour-long return journey for all the festive fun and games.
